The Direct Support Professional provides individuals with developmental disabilities skill development through a combination of community and classroom learning experiences.

Position available at our program located on Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village, NY.

Salary:
Minimum $19.00/hr, Maximum $19.00/hr overtime eligible.

• Assist each consumer in skill development in areas such as independent living, adaptive behaviors, socialization, recreation, and activities of daily living.
• Supervise consumers in the community, using various experiences to reinforce skills taught in group sessions while ensuring their safety.
• Lead group sessions with consumers, facilitating discussions to provide learning skills to be used in their community.
• Provide annual and semi‑annual progress reports regarding valued outcomes.
• Assess the needs of lower‑functioning and/or non‑verbal consumers through observations and evaluations; develop and address their valued outcomes.
• Provide input and ensure compliance with the valued outcomes in the ISP and Day Habilitation Plan.
• Provide weekly documentation of outcomes being worked toward with each individual in accordance with his/her Day Habilitation Plan.

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience providing direct care services to adults with developmental disability.
• AMAP certified, SCIP‑R trained, CPR & First Aid trained.
