The Repair Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing minor home repairs in the homes of NYC senior and disabled residents, in accordance with NYC regulations, and safety standards. This role will involve supervision of Repair Technicians to ensure quality workmanship and client satisfaction. The Repair Supervisor will also coordinate with contracted home modification vendors for work that exceeds the program’s scope.
- Perform and supervise home repairs within the framework of the program while demonstrating utmost courtesy when dealing with clients.
- Supervise repair technicians to ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with program standards.
- Ensure all repairs meet NYC code, safety standards, and program quality expectations.
- Conduct thorough assessments of repair needs and develop work plans.
- Coordinate and communicate with contracted home modification vendors for work beyond the program’s scope (i.e. ramps, stairlifts).
- Monitor contractor performance, track progress, and ensure completion within budget and timeframe.
- Complete paperwork and documentation, including using technology during visits.
- Drive company van to repair sites.
- Maintain tools and work vehicle in good order.
- Maintain standard inventory of materials.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak, listen, and write clearly, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, professionalism, and clarity when working with older adults.
- Patience and ability to work respectfully and effectively with elderly clients.
- Ability to read and follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other repair staff, as needed.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); trade school or vocational training (preferred).
- Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on residential repair or construction experience, including proficiency with installing assist rails, lock repair and replacement, plumbing, electrical skills, masonry, painting, carpentry and furniture repairs.
- Prior experience supervising repair staff and overseeing the quality and completion of repair work.
- Prior professional experience supervising repair work and coordinating with external contractors.
- Proficiency with basic tools and safe handling of materials.
- Strong knowledge of NYC building and housing code requirements.
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment by consistently using appropriate safety techniques and equipment.
- Valid NYC Home Improvement Contractor License (strongly preferred).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Bilingual English/Russian or Spanish (preferred)
- Required Constantly:
Physical activity including completing necessary tasks to prepare and complete in‑home repairs, carrying of repair items and tools required for tasks, walking, sitting, and driving to and from homes throughout the five boroughs. - Required Frequently:
Standing; climbing stairs; carrying large boxes and tools (approx. 10‑25 lbs). - Required Occasionally:
Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5‑25 pounds, pushing and pulling.
$75,000 - $85,000 per year
