Director of Telecommunications

As Director of Telecommunications, you will plan, organize, and manage the administrative and technical aspects of LiveOnNY’s communication systems (voice, data, and video). You will lead telecommunications strategy, comply with regulations, and ensure delivery aligns with business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Define and implement long‑term and short‑term telecommunications strategies, including phone systems, call recording, and network services.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize and adopt new telecommunication technologies and integrate them into the business to improve operations; oversee installation, maintenance, repair, and security of telecommunications hardware and software; troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing applications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to LiveOnNY’s business and IT departments, coordinating efficient responses to telecommunications service requests; demonstrate understanding of voice and telecommunications design, protocols, and products.
  • Participate in the creation of the telecommunications budget, making recommendations for investments and resource allocation.
  • Manage, develop, and lead the telecommunications department, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning; collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, provide training, and resolve issues.
  • Work with Information Technology to ensure appropriate security measures protect telecommunications from intrusion.
  • Enforce technical standards and best practices, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with federal, state, and city laws as well as company rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and manage telecommunications risks, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field; minimum of five years’ experience in telecommunications and call center management; excellent organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft 365 and telecommunications software; knowledge of quality improvement principles; ability to teach, train, and work as a team member.
  • Preferred:
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; previous experience in a similar role with comparable complexity; experience designing a multi‑vendor telecommunications infrastructure; successful project management, resource allocation, and milestone delivery.
  • Demonstrated successful experience managing complex telecommunications or communications requirements and projects.
  • Ability to align resources with project schedules, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Strong background in telecommunications management; excellent leadership skills and strategic mindset.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to handle escalated situations professionally; ability to communicate with all levels of staff, including Executive Leadership.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical‑thinking skills.

Salary Range

$129,000 – $162,000 annually
