Position Summary
The Field Technician I plays a critical role in the on‑site installation, servicing, and troubleshooting of signage products. This position involves working with a variety of sign types—including illuminated, non‑illuminated, vinyl, and dimensional signs—at commercial and retail locations. The ideal candidate has hands‑on technical skills, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
This entry‑level position supports senior installers and learns the skills necessary to grow within the installation team.
Key Responsibilities Installation & Service- Install a wide range of signage, including wall signs, pole signs, monument signs, channel letters, vinyl graphics, and more.
- Perform service and maintenance on existing signs, including lighting repairs (LED/fluorescent), panel replacement, and structure checks.
- Safely operate power tools, hand tools, ladders, and lift equipment to perform installations.
- Ensure signs are securely mounted and meet all job specifications, alignment, and quality standards.
- Conduct site checks and surveys before installation to assess conditions, take measurements, and confirm installation methods.
- Load materials and tools required for each job; ensure proper staging and transport of signage from the shop to site.
- Coordinate with project managers and/or clients on arrival, timelines, and any access or permitting needs.
- Diagnose and resolve field issues, such as incorrect placement, electrical faults, or unexpected site conditions.
- Document site issues and communicate necessary adjustments to the project or design team.
- Serve as a professional on‑site representative of the company when interacting with clients or property managers.
- Provide updates on job progress, completion, or any complications to supervisors or project managers.
- Collaborate closely with other installers, electricians, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution.
- Follow OSHA and company safety standards at all times.
- Ensure job sites are clean and secure before, during, and after work is completed.
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and lifting equipment (boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.).
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of experience in signage installation, general construction, or a technical trade preferred.
- Comfortable with heights and working outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts.
- Basic electrical knowledge (especially low voltage / LED wiring) preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, install instructions, and measurements.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus.
- Ability to travel locally and regionally as required by project schedules.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Regularly required to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and reach.
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders or lift equipment.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, power tools, and construction environments.
