Action Carting Environmental Services/ Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country! We primarily service Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, Connecticut, with a state-of-the-art rail served landfill located in Ohio. Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment.

Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
• Washes vehicles and equipment.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
• Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
• Perform other maintenance related work as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

• 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
• Hydraulics experience is required

• Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
• Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations
• A valid driver’s license is required. CDL preferred
• Assists with service calls for breakdowns

• Prior experience from waste management industry experience is a plus
• Trade school or similar training is a plus
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices
• Must be able to provide own tools.
• Preform other duties as assigned.
