This position oversees all aspects of the general mechanic operation and may assist with HVAC supervision as needed. The role regularly requires emergency response after hours, with the Mechanic Supervisor expected to respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day. Responsibilities include maintaining, installing and repairing existing or new HVAC, electrical, door hardware and plumbing equipment, as well as general carpentry, painting and spackling.
Responsibilities- Train, delegate, and supervise the workload of Mechanics.
- Perform daily inspections, repairs and respond to mechanical issues.
- Coordinate manpower and resources to support all special events.
- Monitor and maintain staff coverage to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required standard.
- Ensure HVAC records and logbooks are completed and up to date.
- Maintain daily quality control inspections including safety and egress issues.
- Safe handling of pool chemicals such as chlorine and muriatic acid.
- Check and respond to email regarding work requests and provide follow-up updates on status.
- Troubleshoot HVAC and electrical equipment.
- Isolate water leaks and repair piping and fittings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- High school graduate and/or formal education from an accredited technical school (preferred).
- 5 years of hands-on experience with prior supervisory experience preferred. Examples include replacing 110V outlets, replacing sink faucets, lubricating bearings, replacing motor belts, etc.
- Strong and effective leadership and communication skills.
- Own smartphone (a data plan not required) to access 92nd Street Y applications via Wi-Fi, be reachable during work hours, and respond to emergencies outside regular hours.
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
- Demonstrable knowledge of building maintenance and repairs including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, swimming pool operation, carpentry, and drywall.
- Ability to follow procedures and equipment installation manuals.
Hours:
40 hours per week.
Compensation Range: $60,000 - $70,000. The actual compensation offered will be based on factors including qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location from which the applicant performs the work.
