Position: New Build Marine Mechanic
Location: Town of Florida

Job Summary:

The New Build Marine Mechanic is responsible for the installation, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical systems on custom sportfish yachts. This includes propulsion systems, steering components, fuel and hydraulic systems, plumbing, and other essential mechanical components. The role requires a deep understanding of marine mechanical systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work within the unique challenges of yacht construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and align propulsion systems, including engines, shafts, struts, and rudders.
  • Fit and connect fuel, hydraulic, and exhaust systems according to engineering specifications.
  • Install and test HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical systems during the build process.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify proper alignment and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute installations accurately.
  • Work with other departments to integrate mechanical components with electrical and structural elements.
  • Conduct pressure testing and operational checks on installed systems.
  • Ensure compliance with marine industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following proper safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; ABYC, technical certification in marine mechanics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in marine mechanics, yacht construction, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of propulsion, hydraulic, fuel, and plumbing systems in marine applications.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with marine industry standards and safety practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed in a marine and industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
  • May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, or in awkward positions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
