ResponsibilitiesAssists the Medical Center Administration in its protection program and provides a safe and secure environment conducive to quality patient care. Enforces all established Medical Center and Safety and Security Department policies and procedures related to the protection program concerned with physical and procedural security designed to safeguard personnel, prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, materials and documents and safeguards them against theft and damage.

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $18.00 -$22.50 hourly. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
QualificationsMinimum Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of the New York State Eight Hour Pre-assignment Training Course prior to hire highly preferred, with completion required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Successful completion of the New York State Sixteen Hour On-The-Job Training (OTJ) Course prior to hire highly preferred, with completion required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
Minimum Experience: Experience in security field and/or law enforcement preferred.
Required Certification/Registration:
- Valid driver’s license without violations meeting insurance carrier criteria.
- Must be registered with the NYS Security Guard Registry within 90 days of hire or transfer and maintain registration throughout duration of employment. Maintenance of the NYS Security Guard registration includes completion of a NYS approved 8-hour Annual In-Service training course once per calendar year.
- Must be certified in BLS prior to the end of orientation.
- Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
Physical Requirements: Light to heavy duty based on job requirements and emergency situations. Must be able to endure physical elements of standing, walking, running, and possible physical confrontation.
Working Conditions:
- Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Works inside and outside of facility and may be subjected to extended periods of outside work if assigned as a vehicle operator, traffic controller, or scheduled to exterior post assignments, and responding to calls for services.
