Who We Are:

• CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We offer more than 180 integrated programs in:
  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services.
• We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways.
• More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe.
• Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
• Program Overview CAMBA GARDENS is a 209 unit supportive/affordable housing development located in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn.
• CAMBA Housing Ventures (CHV), the housing development subsidiary of CAMBA, developed these units. 146 of these units are set aside for formerly homeless individuals and families. 117 units are for Population I individuals, chronically homeless single adults who suffer from Serious and Persistent Mental Illness or who have a co-occurring Mental Illness and Chemical Addiction (MICA). 15 units are for Population II individuals, chronically homeless single adults who have a substance abuse disorder that is the barrier to independent living and who also have a disabling clinical condition.
  
  14 units are for Population V chronically homeless families, in which the head of household suffers from a substance abuse disorder, a disabling medical condition or HIV/AIDS.
• CAMBA provides on-site case management and supportive services in addition to 24/7 security.

• What The Security Guard Does:
  Under close supervision, the person filling this position is expected to:
• Maintain access control and traffic inside facilities to maintain order and security of people and property.
• Detect and/or prevent fires, vandalism, theft, or infractions of the rules.
• Maintain assigned posts throughout the facility until properly relieved.
• Protect employees, visitors and tenants.
• Provide directions to visitors when requested; maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
• Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
• Comply with all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy policies to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
• Monitor and ensure the security and fire safety of the entire facility.
• Employ crisis prevention/intervention and crisis management skills when conflicts occur.
• Patrol buildings and grounds of CAMBA program locations.
• Examine doors, windows, gates and all fire exits to ensure they are secure and in accordance with fire regulations.
• Observe and report irregularities such as unusual tenant behavior, trespassers, fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and doors left unlocked.
• Monitor tenants and facility via security camera systems.
• Conduct fire safety patrols and report findings or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Conduct security screenings of all tenants and visitors entering the facility.
• Issue commendations to support positive tenant behaviors.
• Counsel tenants that violate rules and complete infraction reports.
• Observe departing employees, visitors and/or tenants to guard against theft of CAMBA property.
• Document property damage, unusual occurrences, and incidents in the security log book and incident report forms.
• Maintain assigned equipment per shift and sign equipment in and out.
• May provide information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
• Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over time.

• NYS Security Guard license. Sufficient education to comprehend basic reading, writing, and math to execute required functions. Must have an 8-hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course certificate.
• Must obtain a 16-hour On-the-Job security guard training course certificate within 90 days of employment.
• Must complete the 8-Hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year.
• Must have and maintain a NYS Security Guard license.
• Must obtain NYS Security Guard registration and maintain registration during employment.
• Must obtain Fire Guard certification and maintain it throughout employment.

• One year of relevant experience.

• Bilingual in any other language
• Pre and/or Post Employment Requirements:
  Obtain Criminal History Checks (CHC) fingerprinting through the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice System) and Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance.
