Comunilife is looking to fill its Security Guard vacancies with experienced professionals. Comunilife is a premier provider of housing, mental health, and HIV/AIDS services in New York City. Our programs benefit more than 2,500 people each year, helping them overcome challenges related to extreme poverty, chronic homelessness, serious behavioral and medical issues, and linguistic and acculturation barriers. The positions are located in the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn.
Comunilife offers a generous benefits and paid time off package to full‑time employees. The salary for these positions is up to $15.30 per hour.
- Continually monitor the front door and check all incoming/outgoing traffic of clients, visitors, and staff.
- Ensure that clients log in and out, incidents and activity are documented, and that the facility and outside courtyards are patrolled frequently or as scheduled.
- Clear public areas of loitering residents and attend mandated in‑service training programs and meetings.
- Responsible, organized, punctual, and efficient; able to perform within a team and accomplish multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Must be able to deal tactfully and diplomatically with other employees, Federal, State, and City officials, professional and technical groups, clients, and the general public.
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of a New York State licensed Security Guard.
Education and Experience
- 8‑ or 16‑hour certificate is required.
- NYS Security license required.
- High School diploma preferred with at least one or two years of experience in security.
- Experience with HIV/AIDS‑afflicted individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse population a plus.
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred.
