Responsibilities

Allied Universal is seeking a Fire Life Safety Director to oversee a Commercial Building located in Midtown Manhattan. The primary mission of the Fire Life Safety Director is to protect life and property through the implementation of the building's fire safety plan including the management of the Fire Command Station and the supervision of the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens and building evacuation supervisors.

The Fire Life Safety Director acts as a liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.

  • Oversee the building's fire safety plan and fire command station
  • Supervise fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy ward wardens, and building evacuation supervisors
  • Coordinate with NYC Fire Department during emergencies
  • Ensure life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional
  • Maintain fire safety teams on each floor (Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, Building Evacuation Team members)
  • Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain a written log of critiques to identify weaknesses in response time or life safety systems
  • Provide clear direction to clients, visitors, vendors and employees during normal operations and emergencies
  • Assist building security with verifying visitor/vendor/employee access badges to prevent unauthorized access
  • Maintain surveillance and reporting of suspicious persons or packages
  • Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required
Qualifications/Requirements

Qualified applicants will meet the minimum requirements described below:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public
  • Ability to prepare written reports and logs; computer skills may be required
  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures and instructions
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state/local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
  • Background investigation and post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test required
  • Maintain current active status of all required licenses while on duty
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments
  • Intermediate computer skills to utilize wireless technology at client sites
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality
  • Neat and professional appearance
  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently
  • Read, understand and clearly speak English; good speech and hearing (correctable)
  • Ability to work under high volume and public interaction
Physical And Mental Functions
  • Stand or walk constantly for up to an entire shift on various surfaces
  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally
  • Bend/twist at waist/knees/neck occasionally
  • Lift or carry up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • Run as needed
  • Use hands/arms for writing and administrative tasks
  • Maintain constant visual attention to observe and read security monitors
  • Work in varied environments including outdoor conditions
  • Maintain mental alertness and attention to detail
