Event Details

We will be hosting a Security Officer Interview Event for NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island on Sunday, January 25th from 10:00AM-2:00PM, where you will have the opportunity to meet with hiring leaders in person. RSVP is not necessary; candidates should bring their resume, as well as all applicable licenses/certifications.

Research and Academic Building, 101 Mineola Blvd, Room G-018

ABC (located on the Ground Floor).

Position Overview

In this role, the successful candidate patrols hospital buildings and grounds; holds post on an assigned shift protecting patients, visitors, volunteers, employees, and property; responds to hospital emergencies and provides staff support on access control and special activities as required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Greets patients, visitors, and employees in a courteous manner, identifying yourself by name if requested.
  • Provides directions to visitors as needed, responding to inquiries politely and promptly.
  • Protects and safeguards various hospital properties and installations, patrolling surrounding areas to ensure orderliness of environment (locking and/or opening doors, securing restricted areas, checking fire hoses, stairwells, etc.) in accordance with established procedure.
  • Operates and/or monitors various security systems (alarms, TV surveillance, etc.).
  • Directs traffic and guards during ceremonies, and provides security escorts as directed (e.g., safe corridor to parking garages).
  • Observes visitors to hospital, answers questions, and investigates reported losses, suspicious and/or unusual situations in a courteous, efficient manner.
  • Escorts unruly or unauthorized personnel from hospital premises in a tactful and professional manner; may require restraining skills to subdue violators and/or emotionally disturbed individuals.
  • Prepares and submits appropriate incident reports to supervisor.
  • Explains hospital security policies and procedures to visitors, staff, etc., as necessary.
  • Assists other departments in controlling visitor traffic as required.
  • Maintains hospital package control policy in accordance with established procedure.
  • Responds promptly to fire alarms and other emergencies using established communication system in accordance with established procedure.
  • Unlocks doors, directs immediate populations to a safe area, assists fire brigade or appropriate others in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Detains law violators and represents the hospital in legal cases as necessary; may drive hospital vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current and valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • Current and valid Crisis Prevention/Intervention (CPI) certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire date).
  • Current and valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire date).
  • Strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Required Licenses
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention-Ct
  • Security Guard Reg-NYS
Preferred Qualifications
  • College courses.
  • Current and valid NYS Drivers License.
  • Basic computer skills (including MS Office).
