Fenimore Art Museum and Fenimore Farm Security/Safety Guard Full-time, year-round position Applicants must have a clean driving license, be able to walk considerable distances in all weather conditions and have open availability including weekends and holidays. The workday includes using computer based monitoring systems, walking extensive museum grounds, completing incident reports, and troubleshooting for potential hazards. We provide training, certification, an excellent benefit package, including health and dental insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick pay.
$18-$20/hr. based on experience. These positions are for the 2nd and 3rd Shifts. The Security/Safety Guard is responsible for ensuring the protection and safety of the museum’s visitors, staff, exhibits, and property. This position involves monitoring galleries, entrances, and public areas to prevent theft, vandalism, or unsafe behavior. The Guard enforces museum policies, responds to alarms or emergencies, and provides assistance during evacuations or first aid situations.
Duties include conducting regular patrols, operating surveillance systems, controlling access to restricted areas, and preparing detailed incident reports. The Security/Safety Guard also serves as a courteous and professional representative of the museum, offering directions and information to visitors while maintaining a vigilant presence. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong observation skills, calm decision-making under pressure, and excellent communication abilities. Prior experience in security or public safety, especially in a cultural or public setting, is preferred.
