DEPARTMENT: HOUSING AND SERVICES - SECURITY
LOCATION: BRONX, BROOKLYN, QUEENS, MANHATTAN
SALARY: $24 PER HOUR
SUMMARY:
Westhab is seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our Security Department. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for various assignments in a homeless family shelter with children and performs related duties as required. The Shift Supervisor reports to the Security Manager. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train new security employees on all aspects of the facility.
- Maintain security standards and traffic intervention requirements.
- Assist Facility Manager with fire drills and emergency responses.
- Conduct random rounds inside and outside the facility to monitor for hazards, trespassers, and illegal activities.
- Respond to assistance requests from other Shift Supervisors via phone or in person.
- Complete reports such as logs, incident reports, CPS reports, and others as assigned.
- Monitor the reception and front desk security daily.
- Ensure the safety and security of clients and staff.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Enforce workplace policies including drug-free and no-smoking rules.
- Attend and lead meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Back up the Security Manager when required.
- Check and maintain inventory of equipment daily.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations.
- Perform all responsibilities of a Client Care Monitor as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree in social services, criminology, or related field, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of security systems required. Problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential. Must own a vehicle and be familiar with public transportation. A home phone is mandatory. Flexibility in days and hours is required.
