Job Description- Position:
Full‑time - Workdays:
Monday—Sunday (flexibility required) - Shift: Morning
- Hourly Pay: $29.00/hour
- Must possess an F85 or F89 Certificate of Fitness.
- Will walk and stand for extended periods.
The Fire Life Safety Director implements the building’s fire safety plan, manages the Fire Command Station, oversees the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy wardens, and evacuation supervisors, and serves as liaison with the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.
Expected Skills & Competencies- Ensure all life safety systems and equipment are fully functional.
- Confirm every floor has a fire safety team.
- Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain reports.
- Provide clear guidance to visitors, vendors, and employees during normal and emergency situations.
- Assist security staff with badge verification and access control.
- Report suspicious persons or packages.
- Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid when required.
- Stand or walk constantly during shifts.
- Occasional stair, ramp, or ladder use.
- Occasional bending or lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Run as needed.
- Use both hands, arms, and eyes for coordination, reporting, and monitoring.
- Work in varying climates, including adverse outdoor conditions.
- Maintain constant mental alertness and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong initiative and independent judgment within guidelines.
- Ability to prepare reports and logs in clear handwriting; computer skills preferred.
- Read and understand operating procedures and instructions.
- License requirements may apply; must maintain active status and carry license while on duty.
- Background investigation, drug/alcohol test, and post‑offer pre‑employment testing required.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments.
- Intermediate computer skills for wireless technology use.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
- Professional appearance.
- Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently.
- English proficiency and hearing/vision at normal level.
- Handle high‑volume general public interactions.
