Acoustic / Oceanographic Data Scientist – Stealth Marine Security Start-up (US Citizens Only) - happy for full time or fractional basis

Recruiting for an early‑stage, defence‑adjacent start‑up operating in the marine security / naval operations space, we’re looking for an Acoustic / Oceanographic Data Scientist who lives and breathes underwater acoustics

• Work with real undersea acoustic data to detect, classify, and characterize activity in complex marine environments.
• Design models, analytics, and signal‑processing pipelines for oceanographic acoustics.
• Collaborate closely with a small founding team and external scientific advisors (including national lab partners).

• Deeply experienced in underwater / oceanographic acoustics (not generic DS/ML).
• Comfortable with real‑world, noisy sensing data and end‑to‑end analysis (from raw signals to decision‑useful outputs).
• Ideally familiar with defence / national lab environments (ONR, NAVSEA, DARPA, etc.), or similar mission‑driven work.
• A US citizen and able to work with defence‑adjacent, export‑sensitive topics.
