PHD Quantitative Researcher / Algorithms (PhD, 2026 Start) - Tier #1 Market Maker

You will join an interdisciplinary quantitative trading team working alongside traders, researchers, and experienced software engineers in a highly collaborative, collegiate environment.

This is a research-intensive position grounded in advanced mathematics, probability, and statistical modelling
, applied directly to live financial markets.

The Role:
  • Apply rigorous statistical methods to identify and build predictive trading models
  • Research and implement new trading strategies across time horizons
  • Analyse and refine existing strategies to improve robustness and efficiency
  • Develop risk models and quantitative frameworks to manage portfolio exposure
  • Design experiments to validate hypotheses about market behaviour
  • Create tools to automate research workflows and improve visualisation of complex datasets
  • Deploy models into high-performance production infrastructure and monitor live performance

The environment operates in a tight research → implementation → performance feedback loop

Your

Experience:

Academic Background
  • Advanced degree (preferably PhD) in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative discipline
  • Strong academic record with challenging coursework and demonstrated depth
Mathematical & Analytical Strength

You demonstrate exceptional quantitative ability, potentially evidenced by:

  • Medallist or high distinction in the International Mathematical Olympiad
  • Strong placement in the International Collegiate Programming Contest
  • National or international mathematics/physics Olympiads
  • Elite competitive problem-solving achievements
Technical Skills
  • Strong programming ability, particularly in C/C++ and/or Python
  • Experience with numerical methods, statistical modelling, and large-scale data analysis
  • Ability to express ideas both mathematically and algorithmically
Personal Attributes
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability under pressure
  • Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Intellectually curious and self-motivated

Compensation:
  • Base salary up to $250,000 USD (location dependent)
