Research Associate - Neurology-Move Disorder Division

Position Summary

Join our team as a Research Associate in the Neurology – Move Disorder Division. The successful candidate will conduct independent basic science experimentation under the mentorship of a senior scientist in the Parkinson’s disease field in the Un Kang Lab. The individual is expected to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for pursuing a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.

Job Responsibilities
  • After a period of time in the laboratory, train graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in experimental design, technique, and performance.
  • Generate hypotheses and design and perform experiments to test them.
  • Execute multiple experiments simultaneously over time independently.
  • Record all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook; analyze and interpret results.
  • Based on results, independently suggest and test protocol modifications.
  • Prepare figures and diagrams for presentations and publications.
  • Communicate results and collaborate with other professionals in the lab.
  • Demonstrate a significant level of intellectual input into project design.
  • Present findings at lab meetings, respond to challenges, and participate in idea exchanges to advance the science.
  • Read and understand relevant scientific literature.
  • Contribute to preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to submission for publication.
  • Participate in editing and proofing of grant proposals, annual grant reports, and manuscripts for publication; recommend modifications to the Principal Investigator.
Minimum Qualifications

College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required; placement in position may not exceed three years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Comfortable working with laboratory animals.
  • Familiarity with benchwork in a basic science laboratory.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,900.00 - $45,954.48 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
