Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate - Per Diem. This is a part-time, temporary position for Spring and Summer 2026 (April–July). The Research Data Associate will recruit participants for a study about a new NYC policy mandating added sugar warning labels in restaurant chains. The role involves conducting field research in the community, troubleshooting survey procedures, and collecting data.
Duties include managing participant recruitment and screening; contributing to public health and scientific knowledge on policy effects of added sugar warning labels in restaurants.
- Assists with conducting field research in the community, troubleshooting survey procedures, and collecting data.
- Recruits and screens potential subjects for eligibility to the study.
- Initiates contact with study participants; encourages reminders and compliance to research; ensures contact with study participants is courteous, effective, professional and cooperative.
- May complete assessments on study subjects/patients per protocol (with proper training); continues to follow through with items and patients as part of the research study.
- Interacts with participants in a courteous and professional manner. Collaborates with personnel involved in assisting with specific aspects of the study.
- Ensures protocol compliance. Follows standard steps regarding eligibility criteria, follow-up process and documentation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures of the host institution where the study is conducted, including regulatory requirements such as IRB and other approvals if necessary.
- Utilizes established methodologies to collect participant information for the research project; gathers and compiles data, statistics, and other materials as needed. Inputs data into the database and/or case report forms.
Associate's degree plus one year related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsMust be comfortable traveling to and conducting surveys with residents in diverse communities in New York City. Researchers will approach residents on the street and may ask them to complete a survey about their restaurant purchases. Should have at least three 3-hour blocks of time available in the schedule every week from April–July. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Access to transportation to move to various locations throughout the city. Must be organized, detail-oriented, dependable and flexible. Availability to work on weekends is desired but not required.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

The salary range for this role is $25.84–$30.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
