AboutThe Role
The Employee State Benefits Specialist has a particular subject matter expertise in state leaves administration. The Specialist is responsible for tracking and reporting all applicable state leave legislation, pending or otherwise. Serving as the main contact for our client with respect to data reporting requirements and state filings.
Responsibilities- Organizing, coordinating and executing outsourced state leaves administration activities on behalf of our client. Working in collaboration with internal resources, the client, client vendor partner(s) and state entities.
- Participating in bi-weekly internal client status meetings and ad hoc meetings. Communicating with Benefits and Wellness, Employee Relations/Legal, and client consultant. Offering updates on task progress and ensure alignment on priorities.
- Understanding and staying current on state leaves legislative requirements. Then communicating to internal and external stakeholders about state legislation requirements, status and decisions.
- Partnering with client’s broker/consultant and creating login to state portals. Acting on behalf of the client, to be able to be a registered agent/TPA for the client.
- Inputting clients leave information into state portals. Collaborating with state authorities and coordinating with internal teams and clients. Attention to detail and effective communication skills are crucial for ensuring compliance with state leave laws.
- Prioritizing and reviewing new information to adhere to established departmental productivity requirements. These are established by department for handling issues.
- Investigating and analyzing claim information to determine coverage and benefit eligibility and process leave claims. May be required to utilize each state’s calculators/requirements to determine benefit values for state reporting.
- Supporting the management and coordination of state reporting submissions, attestations, renewals and bonds.
- Managing data reports between client records, internal records, and resources for state voluntary leave plan reports. Filtering data and preparing dataset for analysis to ensure accuracy and relevance prior to submission.
- Submitting state leave required reporting to state on intervals to client for review. Once approved, to the state(s) at required intervals (monthly, quarterly annually, etc.).
- Have 4 years of state paid leave and compliance experience with respect to insurance or leave programs.
- Have 2 years of disability claim management experience (STD), or other previous Group insurance experience.
- Have experience with regulatory and compliance standards.
- Possess excel skills, with aptitude for learning other analytics tools.
- Show understanding of state PFML laws and regulations including all aspects of state leaves.
- Enhanced success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
