Position: Director/ VP- Business Development
Location: New York

We believe that a successful sales team makes connections with its customers and creates long-lasting fulfilling relationships. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for driving business growth through new client acquisition and strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, sales, or a related field, with the ability to work independently and as a team to achieve ambitious revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales Leadership:
  • Proactively prospect and identify new business opportunities through targeted outreach, networking, and strategic relationship-building efforts.
  • Utilize a combination of inbound and outbound strategies, including cold calling, attending industry events, leveraging professional networks, and engaging with key decision-makers in your sector.
  • Sales Process Management:
    • Manage the entire sales process from initial lead generation through to contract negotiation and final closure.
    • Conduct needs assessments to understand client requirements, present tailored solutions, and drive the sales cycle forward with compelling proposals, pitches, and presentations.
  • Pipeline & Revenue Tracking:
    • Maintain a robust and accurate sales pipeline, ensuring that all stages of the sales process are tracked and managed effectively.
    • Regularly update and report on progress against revenue targets, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure sales goals are achieved.
    • Prioritize high-value leads and ensure timely follow-up with prospects, ensuring consistent engagement and moving deals through the pipeline.
Client Relationship & Account Management:
  • Relationship Building:
    • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders, C-suite executives, and decision-makers to generate new leads and sales opportunities.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to existing clients, understanding their evolving business needs and positioning solutions that add value.
  • Account Expansion & Growth:
    • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding service offerings within existing accounts to meet client needs.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful delivery of services and ensure client satisfaction, leading to repeat business and referrals.
  • Market Insights:
    • Conduct regular market research to identify new opportunities, assess industry trends, and analyze competitive dynamics.
    • Use insights gained from market research to inform business development strategies and position the company effectively within the marketplace.
  • Develop and execute effective growth strategies for business expansion, targeting new verticals, sectors, or geographic regions.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to define business objectives, align on strategic priorities, and ensure alignment between sales efforts and overall company goals.
  • Client Presentations & Pitches:
    • Prepare and deliver compelling, customized presentations and proposals to prospective clients, effectively communicating the value of our services and solutions.
    • Present complex research data and findings in a clear and actionable way, using data visualization tools (charts, graphs) to translate insights into business implications for the client.
Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in business development
    , sales
    , or a related field, with a proven track record of success in market research
    , consulting
    , or a similar industry.
  • Extensive experience managing the full sales cycle, from lead generation to contract closure, with a focus on long-term business relationships and account growth.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding revenue targets and sales objectives.

Leadership & Management:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide business development teams to achieve excellence.
  • Experience building and developing high-performing sales teams, with a focus on setting clear goals, tracking performance, and fostering a culture of success.
