Business Development
The Business Development Representative “BDR” is responsible for managing the early sales pipeline. Starting with Marketing Qualified Leads “MQLs” the BDR works to achieve the first purchase order with new customers. This requires the successful candidate to be able to seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers, including OEM Machine Builders, Distribution Partners and end users.
Your success will directly contribute to our long-term business growth. The Business Development Representative reports to the VP of Sales.
- Proactively identify and engage with potential Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) through targeted outreach campaigns, including email, phone, and Linked In communications
- Research and qualify prospective clients using defined criteria to effectively convert MQLs into Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs) to convert them into customers through strategic relationship management and effective communication of our offerings
- Build initial relationships with potential customers through professional communication and thoughtful follow-up, demonstrating a clear understanding of their business challenges and effective communication of our offerings
- Collaborate closely with sales organization and marketing to understand ideal customer profiles and refine lead qualification processes to ensure high-quality hand-offs
- Under the direction of the BDE, lead negotiations with potential clients, establishing written contracts and first-order sales agreements that align with customer needs and company goals
- Maintain accurate and current records of contacts, deals, tasks, and company information in the ei3 CRM system (currently Hub Spot)
- Generate weekly activity reports tracking key metrics like number of touches, meetings scheduled, and MQL to SQL conversion rates and share with BDE who will Report on these in his monthly meeting on sales performance to the CEO, sharing insights on achievements, conversion rates, and areas for improvement to inform strategic decisions
- Develop and maintain foundational knowledge of ei3’s products, services, and industry developments to ensure informed and effective communication with potential customers
- Participate in regular coaching sessions with BDE to improve outreach strategies and lead qualification skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or relevant field
- Proven work experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive or similar role. Minimum of 1 year of sales experience.
- Self-starter who has a desire to learn, grow, and excel in their role
- Track record of achieving or exceeding monthly sales activity goals/quotas
- Experience with CRM software
- Understanding of Iot (Internet of Things)
- Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
- Familiarity with MS Excel (analyzing spreadsheets and charts)
- Understanding of sales performance metrics
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- An excellent presenter – ability to deliver engaging presentations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information with a variety of audiences. English fluency.
- Experience composing structured sales proposal documents
