Business Development Manager - Freight Forwarding
Orion Solutions Group has partnered with a world‑class International Freight Forwarding company that has delivered supply chain solutions to large and medium multinational companies for over 35 years. Their Contract Logistics and Freight Management service is a fully integrated global network with offices in key sourcing countries, delivering excellent operational service to each client.
Key Responsibilities- Establish relationships with new customers and close new contracts throughout the year.
- Manage the entire sales cycle from “Initial Opportunity” through “Closed Won”.
- Prospect potential customers using cold‑calling, face‑to‑face meetings, and industry networking.
- Execute customer presentations, submit opportunities, manage activity reports, and participate in the overall company growth strategy.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Develop and maintain functional knowledge of the products, services, and company operations.
- Work closely with operations managers to develop collaborative working relationships and ensure all customer needs are met.
- Enter sales data into CRM system or other designated sales call software provided by the company.
- Work cooperatively with other sales and operational staff to support a team‑selling environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Strong understanding of Freight Forwarding/Logistics with demonstrated aptitude and desire to sell.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and other job‑specific software applications.
- Must have strong persuasive and negotiating skills.
- Must have strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think and respond quickly to sales and service issues.
- Effective planning and organization skills required to schedule appointments appropriately and meet reporting deadlines.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record and proof of automobile insurance required.
Travel: Up to 50% local market/region
Salary: $110,000‑$125,000 + commission
