Its all‑optical IP network backbone spans 228 markets worldwide. Cogent remains a leader in network capacity and customer support, offering structured tenure pay and an uncapped commissions plan.
Compensation
Initial base salary: $19.23–$38.46 per hour (≈$40,000–$80,000 annually).
Tenured pay: $19.23–$48.07 per hour (≈$40,000–$100,000 annually).
Commissions are earned on each sale:
- 50%–150% of one‑month MRCs.
- 1/12 of one‑time NRCs.
- 1/24 of Burst (details).
Specific offers are based on experience, education, skills, certifications, and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Identify new business opportunities within a prescribed Regional Sales Territory via sourcing and hunting, focusing on Mid Market and non‑named National Account segments (up to 500–999 employees).
- Use direct calling, email, and other outreach to qualify and generate prospects with key decision makers.
- Complement prospecting and selling efforts through field work such as building walks, lobby events, property management relationships, and face‑to‑face meetings.
- Apply consultative and relationship‑building techniques to introduce current and future connectivity solutions.
- Position Cogent services to prospects and customers to secure new business.
- Achieve monthly revenue goals by selling into large commercial and retail buildings, office parks, and professional campuses.
Qualifications
- Previous sales experience with a proven track record (recent experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and generate new business through extensive prospecting and research.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team environment with revenue deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM applications is a plus.
- A college degree is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This is an in‑office position, five days a week, designed to support mentorship, training, and coaching.
