The Opportunity
The opportunity to join a high-end, health-forward grocery concept that is redefining the modern neighborhood grocery experience. Built around quality, transparency, and thoughtful curation, this growing brand is seeking a Category Buyer – Center Store to help manage and evolve its dry goods assortment.
This role is ideal for a buyer who enjoys balancing data-driven decision-making with strong product intuition—owning inventory, vendor partnerships, and assortment strategy in a fast-paced, in-store retail environment.
What You’ll Do- Own buying and replenishment for center store / dry goods categories, in collaboration with category leadership
- Analyze sales, margin, inventory levels, turns, and shrink to drive accurate ordering and strong performance
- Manage the product lifecycle, informed by consumer preferences, trends, and competitive dynamics
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, including pricing discussions and issue resolution
- Make assortment and pricing recommendations that balance volume, margin, and customer demand
- Partner closely with receiving, finance, and store leadership to resolve inventory discrepancies
- Support category reviews and performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with food safety, operational standards, and company procedures
- Minimum 2+ years of retail grocery buying experience, ideally within center store or dry goods categories
- Experience in natural, organic, or health-forward grocery strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills with comfort working across sales, margin, and inventory reports
- Proficiency with Excel, ERP, POS, or inventory management systems
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, in-store retail environment with shifting priorities
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- On-site role with regular time spent on the sales floor
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods
- Schedule includes rotating shifts, weekends, and some holidays
