Position: Sales Associate (Part time: 32 hrs/week) — Home & Gift location
Location: New York

Location : LEIF Home & Gift — 99 Grand Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (This job listing is for this location specifically! We're seeking someone with a high level of energy and accountability, a commanding presence and a strong love of retail — this location requires a very specific kind of person who can keep up with a
* lot* and who thrives on being extremely busy).

Schedule : 4 days (32 hrs/week on average), WEEKEND AVAILABILITY REQUIRED

Compensation : $21/hr starting wage

Benefits: 30% employee discount

We are looking for someone with prior retail experience, strong sales skills and an outgoing, energetic, upbeat presence with outstanding people skills. You will demonstrate a positive attitude and exceptional product knowledge while embodying our laidback but professional, authentic and engaged style of customer service.

About us : Established in 2011, LEIF is an independent lifestyle boutique with a strong e-commerce and brick & mortar presence. We're a small (less than 10), tight-knit, all-women team. Our specialty is creating a truly unique retail experience: in our expertly curated collection you'll find an assortment of products that you're unlikely to find at any other store. We aim to invoke a feeling of joyful discovery in our assortment (with a range of price points from accessible to aspirational) the main criteria of which is: an aesthetically pleasing product that brings joy or comfort to the everyday.

All in a welcoming, authentic and warm environment that doesn't ever feel exclusive or pretentious — a store filled with beautiful things (which you likely haven't seen in a bunch of other shops) where the people are nice to you! We think you'll like our style.

Responsibilities include :

  • Being an all-star salesperson and conveying a natural ease and authenticity while engaging with customers.
  • Demonstrate an authentically friendly yet elevated level of sales and service through communication, product knowledge, body language & morale.
  • Maintain the welcoming, inviting feel of our brand by greeting and thanking every customer.
  • Conduct sales transactions on POS, accurately ringing up items and packing with care and attention.
  • Receiving new inventory and managing existing inventory.
  • Providing and assisting with customer service as needed via in-person interactions, phone and email, while offering expert product knowledge.
  • Monitoring e-comm sales, carefully packing items and shipping out online orders.
  • Shop upkeep, visual merchandising, organizing stock in back of house.
  • Maintaining the storefront (cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, etc).
  • Working closely with owner and the rest of the team to streamline the business and grow sales.
  • ....and much more! This is a role that requires a genuine love of retail, people and customer service and supporting the needs of the shop and our team as they arise.

  • You know how to keep things light and fun while simultaneously working hard and taking your work seriously.
  • Requirements :

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail.
  • Prior retail experience (applications with no prior retail or sales experience will not be considered).
  • Extremely reliable and high accountability.
  • An outgoing, warm, vibrant and engaging personality with an authentic, natural ease with people.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
  • Organized, efficient and aesthetically/visually inclined (gift wrapping, merchandising).
