Overview
Vice President, Merchandising & Retail at BSE Global. The role will set the vision and strategy for BSE’s evolving retail and merchandising business, developing a scalable long-term blueprint for retail operations including Nets & Liberty merchandising, private label brands, onboarding merchandising capabilities for new BSE businesses, third party collaborations and both in-venue & in-market physical retail.
The Vice President will lead a team, set goals / KPIs, architect measurement and reporting frameworks, and use insights to deliver results against business objectives in collaboration with our operating partner. The role requires extensive retail experience, operational expertise and a broad network of industry relationships to optimize the omnichannel consumer experience, align assortments with BSE brand priorities, and elevate design, quality & accessibility.
The individual will drive operational efficiencies, brand building and commercial opportunities.
- Lead a high-performing team focused on strategic planning for Nets & Liberty merchandising across retail and e-commerce, ensuring we achieve desired goals and outcomes
- Collaborate with our operating partner to govern the integration model, lead quarterly business reviews, set sales projections, establish pricing models and craft annual programming calendars
- Steward inventory planning and the open-to-buy process, in concert with our operating partner
- Optimize the in-venue retail experience by analyzing the fan journey, technology, wait time, checkout, store layout, product assortments, etc.
- Develop a strong feedback loop to integrate consumer insights into strategy, influencing product development, inventory planning & in-venue experience
- Work with NBA & WNBA executives to maximize retail opportunities and leverage best-in-class practices & products for the Nets and Liberty
- Craft commercial and product development plans for private label brands, Nets & Liberty entertainers and new BSE properties, including licensing opportunities and IP extensions
- Liaise with the operating partner and Global Partnerships to identify, negotiate, implement and co-market partnerships with leading retail brands
- Coordinate with Marketing and Communications to develop retail marketing & PR strategies and tactics for each brand, launch & collection
- Oversee operational elements such as RFP processes, warehouse space and vendor relationships
- Explore retail business extensions including in-venue retail, new product lines and licensing opportunities
- Partner with DAI and Finance to deliver rigorous reporting/analysis on business operations and performance to senior leadership
- 15+ years of experience across retail, visual merchandising and/or licensing industries
- Extensive experience leading omni-channel merchandising in complex environments with demonstrated success in operations, product development and revenue growth
- Proven track record driving retail performance, growth and operations for leading brands, retailers or licensees
- Understanding of the licensing business; experience in lifestyle & sports sectors is a plus
- Background in negotiating deals and contracts across retail, licensing and vendor agreements
- Excellent relationship-building skills and a strong network of contacts across product manufacturers, retailers and licensees
- Thoughtful, solutions-oriented executive capable of addressing business issues and influencing stakeholders
- Creative and innovative, with a track record of bringing new products to market
- Agile and motivated by a fast-paced, evolving, matrixed environment
- Analytical, data-driven decision-maker
- Excellent attention to detail, project leadership and operational acumen
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas
- Stay up to date with industry trends to inform business strategies
Salary Range
185,000 - $220,000
Works primarily in an office environment. You will be expected to attend games and other events on evenings, weekends and holidays.
