About This OpportunityThe Sourcing Assistant provides sourcing and operational support on all aspects of the product life cycle from development to delivery. Reporting to a Manager/Director of Sourcing, this role will support the Sourcing team in delivering products in line with the brand aesthetic, quality, and value that meet merchant objectives. The position is designed to prepare the incumbent for future bench‑strength as an Associate Sourcing Manager.
Base salary range: $55,300 – $67,600, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range is one component of the total compensation package.
What You Will Do And What You Will Learn- Support operational functions within designated product categories by assisting the Sourcing team in the development of product from initial design concept to placement to production to shipment of an item.
- Assist in purchase order creation by providing relevant data to merchants for PO issuance and ensuring accuracy before sending completed PO to vendor.
- Support Manager/Director with product costing and learn components of cost breakdowns.
- Develop a critical eye for product, raw materials, and finishes. Receive, organize, and assess samples for aesthetic and overall quality.
- Monitor milestone calendars to ensure deadlines are met, flag issues, and provide updates to the team in a timely manner.
- Communicate with vendors and agents to ensure shipments are delivered on time under Manager/Director oversight.
- Keep product knowledge current by shopping competitors, Ross stores, and the market; demonstrate understanding of price/value relationships.
- Establish relationships with all internal and external business partners.
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong retail math skills.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication.
- Strong analytical and PC skills, with an emphasis on spreadsheet applications.
