Key Responsibilities- Cocktail Expertise & Upselling:
- Master Beefbar’s full cocktail menu, including house classics, specialty cocktails, and new seasonal offerings
- Understand cocktail specs, ingredients, brands, flavor profiles, and potential allergens
- Engage guests with thoughtful recommendations and upsell cocktails, spirits, and wine to enhance the guest experience
- Stay curious and eager to learn—participate in tastings, trainings, and ongoing beverage education
- Guest Service & Hospitality:
- Provide warm, attentive service to all bar guests
- Build lasting relationships with regulars, neighborhood patrons, and industry partners
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism and follow the company’s guest recovery steps
- Bar Operations:
- Set up and break down your bar station to company standards, maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service
- Manage bar inventory, including liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, mixers, and supplies
- Ensure the bar meets or exceeds all NYC Department of Health (DOH) and OSHA safety regulations
- Responsible Alcohol Service:
- Verify guest IDs and ensure service of alcoholic beverages is compliant with NY State law
- Monitor alcohol consumption, control pours, and avoid over serving
- Financial Duties:
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and POS systems accurately
- Ensure proper check handling, including splitting checks and managing tabs
- Follow cash handling and tip reporting procedures in line with company policy
- Teamwork & Leadership:
- Work collaboratively with barbacks, servers, and management to ensure smooth service
- Assist in training new bar team members as needed
- Support other areas of the restaurant when requested
- Minimum of 2–3 years experience as a bartender in a high‑end establishment
- Extensive knowledge of classic and modern cocktails, spirits, and wines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong multitasking and problem‑solving abilities
- Professional appearance and impeccable personal hygiene
- Valid alcohol service certification
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods
