About the Satija Lab
Dr. Satija's lab studies the causes and consequences of cellular heterogeneity in complex biological systems. His group is particularly interested in single cell genomics, with active development in both the dry and wet lab. The lab integrates novel statistical and machine learning-based methods with experimental analysis in order to better understand how cells work together to drive biological processes and behaviors.
Position Description
The Satija lab is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Associate to assist in the development of new technologies for single cell sequencing. We encourage applications from talented scientists, who are interested in gaining experience in a multidisciplinary, international, and dynamic research environment. The successful candidate will work with mammalian and invertebrate based model systems in combination with next generation sequencing and CRISPR technology and will work closely with other scientists in the lab.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the growing space of single cell genomics while contributing to new research in cancer immunology and developmental neuroscience. This position is based onsite at the New York Genome Center.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development, execution and optimization of advanced new research techniques including CRISPR based genome engineering;
- Prepare samples for single cell biology experiments;
- Assist in the development, execution, and optimization of advanced research techniques including CRISPR-based genome engineering and combinatorial indexing approaches
- Prepare transcriptomic and epigenomic libraries for Illumina sequencing;
- Maintain mammalian cell cultures, set-up experiments and perform flow cytometry analysis;
- Perform troubleshooting experiments within limits of knowledge and training.

Requirements & Qualifications
- B.Sc or M.Sc in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or related fields required;
- Familiarity with the Illumina sequencing platform required;
- Demonstrated experience in molecular biology, library preparation, next-generation sequencing approaches required;
- Strong research, organizational, problem solving and communication skills (both written and oral) required, coupled with a strong attention to detail and scientific curiosity;
- Excellent general laboratory and organizational skills
- Strong multi-tasking skills; willingness and enthusiasm to contribute to diverse research projects, both within the lab and also with collaborators across NYC.

Salary & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $53,000 - $61,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
