Organization Overview
The ultimate objective of the work in my laboratory is to understand the cellular and molecular basis of vertebrate embryonic induction, with a special emphasis on germ layer and organ formation. Toward this aim, we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems, including human embryonic stem cells.
OverviewThe research assistant will work on a project studying coral stem cells. They will use micropattern technology and other tissue culture techniques to isolate, culture, and propagate coral stem cells. The research assistant will be supervised by the lab manager and will work directly with the head of the laboratory, Ali H. Brivanlou.
Responsibilities- Participate in experimental design, data acquisition, and data management
- Develop and implement data analysis and visualization strategies, perform statistical analysis and help develop models to understand complex biological phenomena
- Assist in the development of custom protocols and tools to aid in data acquisition and analysis
- Prepare and present research findings to the research team
- Assist in upkeep of lab safety standards and daily operations
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Biology and Bioengineering
- Experience with confocal imaging techniques and equipment
- Knowledge in flow cytometry techniques
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with scientific research and the publication process
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience in coral research

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Compensation Range:
Min USD $50,000.00/Yr.
