Research Scientist

Location: New York

As a Research Scientist, under the direction of a researcher in the largest comprehensive university-connected research foundation in the country, you are responsible for investigation and examination tasks within the predetermined research scope or methodology.

Tasks may include:

• Engage in research activities
• Evaluate theories and principles
• Perform technical tasks associated with research activity

Incumbents have the credentials of advanced training and experience and are engaged in research activities directed toward the investigation and evaluation of current field theories and principles. Your work will require the theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge. Incumbents receive general guidance on research objectives and project assignments with periodic review of results by a more senior scientist or the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a graduate degree in area directly related to the field of study, discipline or specialty of home department
• Basic professional knowledge of the disciplinary field and the ability to relate this knowledge to various phenomena under study
• Requires the ability to apply the theory, concepts and principles in the field of study or discipline
• Practical experience gained through an internship or a year’s employment in a professional position
