Research Technician B

The Hägglöf Lab studies how B lymphocytes sense and respond to molecular stresses and insults to determine how B cell coping mechanisms control antibody formation and immune responses in contexts of cancer and vaccination. Therefore, the lab performs immunological assays to study B cells including flow cytometry, ELISA, immunofluorescent microscopy, mouse colony management, genotyping, tissue isolation from mouse bone marrow, spleen, and lymph nodes.

• Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures (Mouse ear punching, Mouse weaning, Mouse injections, Tissue harvesting, Immunoessays, Flow Cytometry, Tissue Prep for Micropsy).
• Require occasional guidance.
• Order routine supplies.
• Modify technical procedures.
• Train other lab members.
• Guide other lab members.
• A simple/limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required.
• Occasionally analyze data.
• Interpret data.
• Make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.

• Required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience.
• Previous experience from a B cell biology lab preferred.
• Prior experience from a B cell lab, working with memory B cells or plasma cells.

Hiring Rate: $26.80, Post Probationary Rate: $27.33, Job Rate: $28.18
