Biohub is leading the new era of AI-powered biology to cure or prevent disease through its 501c3 medical research organization, with the support of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
The TeamThe Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York (CZ Biohub NY) (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. CZ Biohub NY itself supports some of the brightest, boldest engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and develop new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies.
We are guided by our values of scholarly excellence; disruptive innovation; hands-on engineering/hacking/building; partnership and collaboration; open communication and respect; inclusiveness; and opportunity for all.
- We pursue large scientific challenges that cannot be pursued in conventional environments
- We enable individual investigators to pursue their riskiest and most innovative ideas
- The technologies developed at CZ Biohub facilitate research by scientists and clinicians at our home institutions and beyond
Diversity of thought, ideas, and perspectives are at the heart of CZ Biohub Network and enable disruptive innovation and scholarly excellence. We are committed to cultivating an organization where all colleagues feel inspired and know their work makes an important contribution.
The OpportunityThe van der Stegen Lab at Biohub NY is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to develop a humanized mouse model to study human immune cell development and engineering through in vivo gene perturbation. You will establish human immune cell generation through engraftment of (pluripotent stem cell-derived) hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, and you will design a CRISPR/Cas engineering strategy to facilitate in vivo perturbation screens.
You will be based at the Biohub NY and work closely together with our partners at Yale University.
The role requires the ability to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment and a drive to design and establish new research tools.
Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
- Cover letter indicating your research experience, interests and career goals
- Full Curriculum Vitae
- Contact information for 3 references
- Conduct independent and collaborative research.
- Design, perform, and analyze experiments.
- Established engineered mouse models.
- Establish bone marrow chimeras.
- Design CRISPR/Cas engineering strategies and library screens.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Follow advances in the field through published literature and conferences.
- Present your work internally and externally at conferences.
