Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supporting a scientific team conducting translational research in hematology, blood disorders and stem cell biology. The person would be responsible for conducting cellular and molecular studies using animal models and culture systems, analyzing data and presenting the findings to the laboratory.

Responsibilities include:

Conduct and design independent research under the direction of lab Principal Investigator (PI).

Conduct various experiments including cell culture, analyzing erythropoiesis and changes in macrophages in various mouse models.

Summarize experimental data timely and assist in drafting figures, results, and methods for publication under the direction of the PI.

Lead junior research assistants/technicians/students.

Acquire a thorough understanding of the present scientific literature relating to the research in the laboratory.

Present research findings to other members of the laboratory.

Qualifications

Education:

A doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field is required.

Experience:

Must have hands-on experience with cell culture, flow cytometry analyses, western blot and animal handling.

Knowledge of computer science, genomics and molecular biology is required.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $53,760.00/year to $65,292.00/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

Additional $20K housing allowance in addition to base salary.
