Commodities Research Associate
Bridgewater Associates invites applicants for the Commodities Research Associate role on our Asia Strategies team. The position focuses on agricultural commodities and the dynamics of the Chinese market.
About Your RoleAs a Commodities Research Associate you will help Bridgewater invest in commodity markets, build deep expertise in how agricultural prices impact broader markets and macroeconomic forces. You will:
- Partner with investors to research commodity market questions and convert insights into systematic trading strategies and investment advice.
- Help build, maintain, and refine commodity balance sheets, acquiring and organizing trade data.
- Manage and update key data, models, and visualizations.
- Monitor and raise observations about new or changing conditions globally.
- Access and ingest data systematically (coding experience is a plus).
- 4+ years at a commodities trading house, research group, hedge fund, or merchant.
- Proven track record trading agricultural commodities in China (soybeans, rapeseed, palm oil, corn) and optional experience in softs.
- Fluency in Mandarin.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and demonstrated result orientation.
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and organize time in a fast‑paced environment.
The role requires onsite presence four days per week, with candidates based in New York, Shanghai, or Singapore.
Compensation and BenefitsBase salary $150,000–$300,000. Variable compensation in the form of discretionary target bonus. Bridgewater offers a competitive benefits suite.
