Position SummaryThe Sykes Laboratory, led by Dr. Megan Sykes, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technician to support research focused on transplantation and autoimmune diseases. Our lab emphasizes innovation and translational research in advanced immunology. The Technician will assist in experimental procedures, maintain laboratory operations, and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality research outcomes.
Responsibilities- Prepare cells from animal and human tissues; perform cell counting
- Cryopreserve cells
- Prepare flow cytometry samples, acquire data, analyze and summarize results
- Perform antibody titration
- Conduct PCR and other molecular biology assays
- Execute in vitro immunological assays
- Perform tissue culture
- Maintain specific strains of mice
- Collect blood samples and perform other procedures on mice
- Assist or perform surgical procedures on mice
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including
-80°C freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks - Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Previous laboratory experience
- Experience with animal studies
- Proficiency in flow cytometry, animal handling, tissue and molecular biology techniques
- Familiarity with software tools:
Excel, Flow Jo, Graph Pad Prism
- The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug-screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
- Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program
- Work will involve laboratory animals
- Potential blood borne pathogen exposure
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
