Location: East Farmingdale

We are looking for a Quality Control Manager to join our Target Rock team! As the Q.C. Manager you will report to the Director of Quality Assurance and will be charged with maintaining an inspection system to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

Salary/hourly rate: $102,900 to $135,000

Your Challenge
  • Monitors each of the inspection functions (first piece, in-process, final, final valve inspection, receiving inspection and CMM operation and programming) for adequacy and that they meet their objectives.
  • Maintains examiner duties per STR ISO
    9000/QRC-82 (supervisor, inspection qualifications).
  • Initiates cross-training and initial training programs that encompass all aspects of manufacturing inspection.
  • Monitors and reviews man‑power requirements. Provides updates on required labor needs to complete programs (ETC) as required.
  • Reviews daily time charges, attendance, schedules overtime and backshift coverage.
  • Develops a work schedule that responds to priorities to each inspection location and discipline. Reviews shop loading report and addresses obstacles, hold points or conflicts.
  • Resolves procedure conflicts, employee conflicts, inspection method conflicts.
  • Provides responses to customer inquiries including inspection hours on new projects.
  • Develops inspection methods, including designing tools, purchasing, and equipment.
  • Prepares Appropriation Request (AR), obtains pricing and develops cost justification and calculates Return on Investment (ROI) on all capital equipment.
  • Maintains continuous process improvement program including periodic training sessions with Inspectors. Reviews procedure process, equipment and conditions with inspectors, as required. Establishes effective lines of communication and feedback with inspectors, manufacturing personnel, engineers, supervision, and management.
  • Develops and maintains employee development and participation programs that achieve the individual’s potential and added value to the organization.
  • Ensures prompt resolution to conditions that adversely affect quality.
  • Periodically reviews documentation and inspection results.
  • Maintains calibration activity. Ensures the correct procedures are being used and the correct results obtained. Periodically reviews calibration frequency, and closely monitors gauging needs and usage. Ensures compliance to procedures.
  • Monitors NDE work loading, provides scheduling, and workload priorities. Performs periodic reviews on performance and procedure adherence.
  • Monitors/supervises Final Valve Inspection Department, review schedules and priorities with the inspector. Interacts with customers and contract administrators.
  • Analyzes root cause of product and process deficiencies.
  • Provides written responses to customers’ concerns and findings.
What You Bring
  • Associate Engineering Degree and/or completion of two (2) years of study in related industry courses. Such studies should include courses in industrial methods, quality control, mathematics, and the application of statistical controls, as related to inspection methodology.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in the planning and conduct of inspection activities, and in the supervision of inspectors. Experience shall include the ability to direct the use of advanced inspection methods, development of inspection measurement methods, and the capacity to use and calibrate measuring and test devices.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Auditing skills required.
