Overview

The QAPP Partner for Group Internal Audit & Investigations (GIAI) is a Senior Manager role reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance (“QA Lead”) for GIAI and is the primary representation of the Quality Assurance and the Professional Practices team in the US.

As a senior member of an independent, professional team, the QAPP Partner will support the development and delivery of a world leading Quality Assurance (QA) and Professional Practice function within GIAI. A key focus will be developing a strong presence of Quality Assurance and Professional Practices in the US.

The QAPP Partner is responsible for the assurance over activities within GIA principally focused on US audit products and enabling a thorough understanding of GIA methodology across the US team. They will aid in the development and execution of the QAPP strategy set by the QA and PP Leads for GIAI, and support other aspects of the QA risk-based plan and stakeholder engagement.

The role is responsible for assessing and improving the quality of GIA processes, primarily in the US, in accordance with the GIA Methodology, Audit Charter, the IIA Standards and all relevant regulatory requirements.

The QAPP Partner will help drive the delivery of GIAI’s strategy and evolution of the broader GIAI function by providing insights and recommendations to the Global Head, Quality Assurance & Professional Practices (QAPP) and other QA&PP Leads and contributing to process improvements.

The QAPP partner is expected to prioritise multiple assurance reviews, methodology support, tasks, projects, and responsibilities while maintaining positive collaborative experiences and stakeholder relationships. They will help ensure senior management are kept informed of relevant reviews and outcomes.

As a PP representative in the US, the role holder will additionally:

  • Work as part of a team supporting the Director, Professional Practices deliver PP objectives, including driving the understanding and embedding of the methodology through training, day to day methodology support and advisory for the US and other teams as may be needed (including answering methodology queries).
  • Work with other PP team members to identify trends in Internal Audit impacting the methodology and the Audit system, assess the impact of updates, develop communications and provide training relating to the methodology and Audit system updates.
  • As applicable, work with the PP team to provide Audit system support including UAT for ongoing changes, training team on new features, and queries support, as may be needed.
  • The QAPP Partner is expected to have strong technical skills and specialist knowledge of regulatory expectations for internal audit QA and PP functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy
    The QAPP Partner will be expected to make a strong and proactive contribution across all core QA and PP activities across the US team, including:
  • Execution of the Quality Assurance Plan and QA Coverage Strategy that appropriately addresses the GIA Methodology, IIA Standards and regulatory requirements/expectations.
  • Providing a valued, quantitative and qualitative programme of quality assurance on material GIA activities and processes and solution oriented improvement plans.
  • The representative of the Professional Practices to enhance existing approaches, methodologies and toolkits to ensure they remain leading class and current.
  • Ensuring that they consider GIAI’s and Group’s strategy and can form an independent view of whether the key risks in their covered portfolio have been appropriately tested in the audits selected for review.
  • QAPP Partners are expected to remain current with changes in regulatory and other key stakeholder expectations of GIA. Demonstrating a proactive mindset, and always looking for new opportunities to develop.
  • The role holder will work with the PP team to drive improved performance in the function by ensuring the methodology remains fit for purpose and is flexible to meet the changing needs of the audit function.
