Overview

We are looking for a Quality Lab Supervisor to join our Quality Assurance team. The QA Lab Supervisor oversees the quality and safety of products produced within a food manufacturing facility. You will manage the daily operations of the QA Laboratory, supervising a team of lab technicians across various shifts, and collaborating with departments to maintain and improve product quality and safety standards.

will you be doing?
  • Lead and manage the daily activities of the QA laboratory, ensuring efficient and accurate testing processes and allocation of resources.
  • Ensure adherence to testing protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety guidelines.
  • Train and supervise a team of technicians on new testing methods and procedures.
  • Serve as a backup Quality Technician, where needed.
  • Implement and enforce QA standards, procedures, and best practices to guarantee consistent product quality.
  • Monitor and analyze lab test results to identify trends, deviations, and potential quality issues.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure adherence to food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Assist in food safety and consumer complaint investigations and follow-ups including RC and CAPA where needed.
  • Assist with Mondelez International Quality Policies and FSSC 22000 Policy implementation and training needs.
  • Oversee a wide range of tests, including microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory evaluations of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods.
  • Review and interpret test data, ensuring accuracy and reliability, and make informed decisions based on results.
  • Manage ingredients and finished product testing for internal and external manufacturing plants, per sampling plan to ensure product specifications are managed as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing processes, results, and observations in accordance with company policies.
  • Generate and present regular reports on lab activities, quality trends, and performance metrics to management.
  • Collaborate closely with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to address quality-related issues.
  • Assist with other utilities sampling, including water, air, and environmental monitoring programs as required.
  • Responsible for all applicable company procedures and policies, including Mondelez Quality Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, FSSC 22000, New York State, and other regulatory requirements to assure food safety and quality.
  • Oversee QA Lab Technicians on three shifts.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
What do you need?
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Bilingual highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment with a focus on quality assurance.
  • Good understanding of food safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques, equipment, and testing methodologies.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality issues.
What will your schedule look like?
  • Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (tentative)
  • Flexibility on weekdays and weekends as needed
