A lifeguard is a professional responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and water sports participants in various settings such as beaches, rivers, swimming pools, and water parks. They prevent and respond to emergencies, enforce safety rules, and utilize first aid knowledge to save lives. Their primary duties include surveilling water areas, conducting rescues, enforcing swimming rules, monitoring swimmers, and administering first aid as needed.

Note:

The pool is a therapy pool with specific requirements, including water temperature maintained in the 90s.

• Ensure the pool is safe and in good condition before opening to swimmers.
• Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the water.
• Test water levels and chemicals regularly to ensure safety standards.
• Provide emergency care and treatment until emergency medical services arrive.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies to ensure safety.
• Present a professional appearance and attitude, maintaining high customer service standards.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned and prepare activity reports.
• Follow routine verbal and written instructions and maintain knowledge of customer service procedures.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment practical skills test in water.
• Availability to work on weekends and evenings.
• Six months to 1-year relevant experience.
• Proficiency in lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Strong knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.

• Must communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to accurately complete administrative paperwork.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to document pool chemical levels twice daily and report issues.
