The Chautauqua Tennis Center consists of 8 hydro‑grid, fast‑dry, clay courts, including two illuminated courts, and a pro shop. The full tennis season runs late May to early October; summer hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
CompensationPay starts at $16.00 per hour and may increase to $17.00 per hour with demonstrated experience and qualifications.
Work Day Responsibilities- Develop, administer, and promote programming and special events.
- Effectively instruct students in private, semi‑private, and group tennis lessons.
- Maintain student progress reports and program evaluation forms.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain courts professionally and ensure the environment is safe for all users.
- Interact with members professionally; address complaints promptly and notify the Director of member complaints.
- Report safety incidents and equipment repair needs to the Director in a timely manner.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, including cleaning, inspections, and upkeep.
The Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program offers a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions under six months, the new candidate must remain employed for at least 30 days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season (last Sunday in August).
ScheduleSeasonal employment starts annually in June and concludes in August, with potential pre‑season and post‑season work based on business needs. Schedules include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Typical shifts are six hours, starting between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., for a total of 30 hours per week. A weekend shift each week is required.
HousingNo employer‑provided housing is available. Applicants should secure independent housing or live within commuting distance.
