Pediatric Nurse
A private family expecting a baby (due May
7) is seeking an experienced Newborn Care Specialist to provide professional, newborn-focused care beginning in late April. The initial phase will take place in Las Vegas for approximately 1-2 weeks just prior to the birth and after the birth (surrogacy arrangement). After that period, the role will transition with the family to New York City for 8-16 weeks.
During the first phase, coverage may include extended hours depending on family needs. Once in New York City, care will likely shift to structured coverage (day and/or night shifts shared with another caregiver).
This position is strictly newborn-focused and does not include general nanny or household management responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate newborn care
- Support and implement feeding plans (breast milk and/or formula)
- Prepare and sterilize bottles and pumping equipment
- Track feeding, sleep, and diaper output
- Establish and support healthy newborn routines
- Implement safe sleep practices aligned with current AAP guidelines
- Monitor for signs of jaundice, feeding intolerance, dehydration, fever, or other concerns
- Administer pediatrician-prescribed medications as directed
- Support parents in newborn education and transition in home
- Maintain a calm, organized nursery environment
- Maintain strict discretion and confidentiality
- Minimum 2 years of newborn-specific experience (0–12 weeks)
- At least 3 completed newborn placements from birth through 6+ weeks
- Experience with overnight care and/or structured shift care
- Current Infant CPR certification
- Strong knowledge of safe sleep standards
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
- Willing to be hired as a W-2 household employee or a 1099
- Willing to travel to Las Vegas and return to New York City with the family (travel and lodging paid for by the employer)
- Willing to complete background and reference checks
- Experience supporting surrogate births or hospital-based postpartum care
- NCS (preferred), RN, LPN or postpartum certification (not required)
- Experience in private homes requiring discretion
- Ability to collaborate smoothly with another caregiver in a shared-shift structure
- Start window:
April 27-May 1 (flexible for early delivery) - Las Vegas:
