Location: New York
Responsibilities
- Conducts nursing assessments; obtains, records, and updates individuals’ health information and vital signs, using standard instruments and procedures.
- Prepares, implements, and modifies nursing care plans; prepares individuals for and/or assists with examinations and treatments; administers medications and nursing procedures as prescribed.
- Observes, monitors, and records individuals’ symptoms, conditions, and care, including diet and physical activity; identifies and reports responses to medication or changes in health status.
- Serves as the nursing representative on a treatment team; provides information on nursing needs; consults and coordinates with treatment teams and other health care disciplines to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate care.
- Makes clinical rounds to assess nursing care needs and participate in the provision of nursing services.
- Provides health teaching, counseling, and education to individuals, families, and other groups; develops health improvement programs.
- Implements infection control protocols and procedures; provides related consultation and instruction to staff.
- Maintains and updates charts, records, and other documentation consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements; may collect data and support medical research.
- Monitors inventories and ensures standards for medications, solutions, supplies, and equipment are maintained to meet nursing care needs.
Must have a license and a current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
Additional Information- This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. You must meet the minimum qualifications of the title.
- At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.
