The Registered Professional Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the needs of surgical patients throughout the episode of care, focusing on progress toward discharge and transitions within the acute care stay. The surgical nurse advocates for patients during procedures and ensures the delivery and coordination of patient care by the caregiving team. The role involves providing compassionate, competent care to patients in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

• Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree preferred).
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); CNOR certification preferred.
• 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in surgical settings (preferred).
• Knowledge of quality improvement concepts and problem-solving tools.

The Surgical Care program has expanded to meet patient needs, with state-of-the-art facilities including 35 operating suites with advanced robotic technology, specialty rooms, hybrid operating suites with 3D and rotational CT imaging, and intraoperative CT for complex procedures.
