Position SummaryAs a member of Vanderheyden's clinical team, this nurse will administer medications to individuals served at Vanderheyden's OCFS Programs in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, NY State Office of Children and Family Services policies, and Vanderheyden's procedures. Licensed Practical Nurses will provide these services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Primary Duties & Essential Functions- Create and maintain Medication Administration Records (MARs) for each individual enrolled in Vanderheyden's OCFS Programs.
- Collaborate with RNs, Direct Care Supervisors, and Case Coordinators to develop medication education and monitoring for individuals and staff.
- Ensure adequate medication supplies for residence and visits.
- Review and accurately document medication administration in MARs.
- Administer medications at the prescribed times and provide ongoing nursing updates to supervising RNs/Nurse-On-Call.
- Prepare medications for discharge and ensure all medication documentation is complete and accurate.
- Participate in staff development and maintain knowledge of medication effects and side effects.
- Assist in emergency situations as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and participate in agency orientation and education.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Valid New York State nursing license with no limitations.
- Valid, unrestricted NY driver’s license.
- Ability to promote cultural diversity and competence.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds and stand for moderate periods.
- Willing to respond to the needs of a diverse population.
- Work at least one shift per month.
