OverviewIn this role, you will be working on a 17 bed acute psychiatric eating disorder unit, helping individuals with eating disorders work toward recovery in a comfortable and supportive environment. This is a mixed gender unit that serves adolescents and adults. The unit features expertise from faculty members of the two world-renowned academic medical centers and teaching institutions. Patients benefit from the most recent clinical research findings and advances in the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia nervosa.
The goal is to help patients achieve and maintain healthy eating habits and a healthy weight.
You will have the opportunity to work and gain experience in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and other treatments as part of a highly skilled team.
The position is a 40‑hour full time schedule (3×12‑hour shifts and an additional 8 hours bi‑weekly evenings) including weekend (Saturday and Sunday) coverage at New York‑Presbyterian Hospital / Westchester Behavioral Health.
ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care, including assessment, treatment planning, nursing interventions, and monitoring of patients' progress. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to implement evidence‑based practices and achieve best patient outcomes. Participate in specialized procedures such as ECT and other treatments as assigned. Maintain accurate and timely documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Preferred Criteria- At least one year of RN experience and/or capstone or senior clinical rotation with a preceptor
- Any relevant nursing certification(s)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Current New York State RN license (or willingness to obtain)
- BCLS certification
- Knowledge of nursing process: social, behavioral, biological, and physical science
- Knowledge of current health care environment
- Knowledge of customer service principles
- Knowledge of effective interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of use of computer applications
- Ability to analyze patient care data to deliver and evaluate care
- New graduates must complete Nurse Residency Program
$128,149 – $146,972 per year
