Job Overview
Sun River Health provides comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County, as well as the Bronx. The position is a Full‑Time Nurse Practitioner for the HUB site in the Bronx. Salary range: $ – $. Sign‑on bonus: $3,500.00.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and does patient education and counseling.
- Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
- Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate.
- Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. Does follow‑up of abnormal pap smears and reportable STD’s.
- Attends case conferences involving patients.
- Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge.
- Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.
- Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age‑specific grouping of needs, such as infants, adolescents, or geriatric patients.
- Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by the department, organization, and overseen by Infection Control Officer.
- Provides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.
Master’s Degree. 5‑8 years of related experience, including 4 years of business office experience in a large medical practice. Preferred 8+ years. Valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license and CPR/BLS certification.
Required Skills & Knowledge- Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to do and are necessary for practicing in health care centers.
- Competence in delivery of health care to patients (including preventative health education).
- Ability to collaborate with other members of the Health Center to maintain high quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written) is preferred.
