Surgical Nurse

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) is responsible for providing comprehensive perioperative nursing care, including scrub and circulating functions, to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative continuum.

• Perform scrub and circulating nurse duties during surgical procedures
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Assist with IV insertion and phlebotomy as needed
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation in accordance with policy and standards
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control protocols
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond appropriately to changes
• Document perioperative care accurately and timely
• Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

• Minimum two (2) years of Scrub and Circulating OR experience
• Minimum two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
• Minimum two (2) years of Conscious Sedation experience
• Strong CVOR and Open Heart surgery experience (required)

Required:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program

Required:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration from NYSED
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
