Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Nurse Manager 10hr - Nights Critical Care/Tele/Med/Surg - LOH. In this role, the successful candidate provides clinical leadership and management for a designated shift for a patient care unit or clinical service in operative and ambulatory settings, consistent with the philosophy and goals of the institution, the departments of nursing, unit, or program.

The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the nurse manager in developing and sustaining an environment of excellence in patient/family service, staff growth and development, and evidence‑based practice to improve patient care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance and assess practice of designated personnel fairly and transparently.
  • Serve as role model and resource for staff; develop and manage employees through professional growth, mentoring, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline.
  • Monitor staff attendance; ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix to optimize patient outcomes and safety while promoting fiscal responsibility.
  • Coordinate care delivery and assignment of staff based on patient needs and clinical competency.
  • Assist in scheduling, payroll, and integrating services across the care continuum.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed to support unit operations.
  • Offer leadership support to other units in the service.
  • Hold self and others accountable for delivery of exemplary, cost‑efficient care.
  • Assist with maintaining accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards, and policies at the organization, local, state, and federal level.
  • Communicate with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders.
  • Communicate significant patient care issues, family concerns, safety, risk management concerns, and critical events to leadership on duty; seek consultation and assist when indicated; report to the Nurse Manager or Director promptly.
  • Communicate regularly with Nurse Manager about patient safety, clinical practice, staff performance, and participate in implementation of unit initiatives.
